How to Mount an Auxiliary Camera

How to Mount an Auxiliary Camera

Once you've connected the auxiliary camera to a power source and paired with the dashcam, mount the camera. The power souce must be on only when the ignition is on. Do not put into power that is always on. The AUX cameras must go off when the vehicle is off. They will not connect to the main unit if they are always on.
  1. Mounting at different spots of the vehicle enables tracking and video recording of additional perspectives during tripss, however it needs to be visable to the main unit in the cab. We suggest line of sight, for example the side of truck on the mirrors.
  2. Up to four auxiliary cameras can be paired with each dashcam.
Tip
We recommend using either:
  1. M5 machine screws (stainless steel or zinc anodized) with pan heads and M5 rivet nutserts
  2. M6 machine screws and nyloc nuts and washers
If you attach the camera to a single panel, you also need a support plate behind the panel.

Note
Auxiliary camera mounting brackets are different than dashcam mounting brackets. They cannot be used interchangeably.

Mounting Flush-mount Auxiliary Cameras

Note
Wrap-mount cameras are also known as side cameras

Screw the mounting bracket attached to the camera into the vehicle structure at the desired location. The weight of the camera alone will destroy the skin panels on the doors.

Note
Make sure there is some slack in the cable to allow for adjustment.

Mounting Wrap-mount Auxiliary Cameras

Note
Wrap-mount cameras are also known as side cameras
  1. Place the silicone pad along the top of the camera. The silicone pad has ridges that enable you to cushion the camera when using the hose clamps for installation, provides a better seal, and prevents scratching.
  2. Slide the hose clamps through the slots at the top of the camera.

  3. Place the hose clamps around the desired location on the vehicle.
  4. Tighten the hose clamps with the attached screws.
  5. Verify that the camera is secure enough to stay in place.
