How to Access the 'Settings' Tab in Your Dash Cam

This process shows how you can access your settings tab and every setting you can change, with an in-depth explanation.

Accessing the 'Settings' Tab:

  1. When you are in park with the parking brake on, the ignition on, and the door closed, press the touchscreen of the dash cam to view the PIN screen.

  2. Enter the default PIN of 3333, or use your own PIN if you've already set it up.



    The main menu appears similar to the following:

    The Distracted Driver setting must be turned on to trigger in-cab alerts for any distracted driving events.

    Turn the in-cabin recordings on/off while keeping the distracted driver feature working.

    The driver is notified when in-cabin recording is turned off. There is a message "Cabin camera recording is disabled".

    Set where the driver is sitting to calibrate the distracted driving feature.

    Speed Units (in MPH)
    Switch between miles per hour and kilometers per hour for speed display in video recordings and video events.

    Audio Alarms
    Turn the audio alarms for dangerous and distracted driving events on/off.

    Notify live streaming
    Turn the driver notification when someone is watching the live stream through a text indication on the dash screen on/off.

    Encrypt local recording
    Enable encryption from the Surfsight Portal or via API first. Once enabled, the encryption can then be disabled and re-enabled from the dash cam or from the portal.

    Change PIN
    Change the Settings PIN.

    This gives the driver less access to the dash cam menu.

    Calibrate the accelerometer of the dash cam.

    This feature is available with the AI-12 dash cam. The AI-14 dash cam calibrates automatically.

    Calibrate road-facing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to enable tailgating and lane weaving events.

    Recording encryption
    Turn encryption for recording files on the SD card on/off.

    The SD card must be empty to turn encryption on.
